1γClassification of Diatomite Filter-aid and its applicable equipments
Diatomite filter-aid could be divided into constant-temperature dried products, calcined products and flux calcined products as per its production processing, and divided into for foods use and for industrial use in terms of its purpose.
The applicable equipments include: horizontal plate-frame filter, vertical vane filter, rotary vane filter, horizontal vane filter, horizontal disk filter and candle filter, all above equipments should be operated under positive pressure; and others include vacuum vane filter and vacuum rotary-drum filter, which should be operated under negative pressure.
2γFunctional Mechanism of Diatomite Filter-aid
Circulate pre-coating liquid of diatomite again and again to make the first layer of diatomite deposited on the filter medium, and this process is called as pre-coating. Then make a spot of diatomite added into original liquid timely, which is called as addition. Along with process of filtration, the diatomite added mixes with impurities in the original liquid, depositing on the pre-coating layer, thus new pre-coating layers are formed constantly; as the diatomite particles are of natural cavernous structure, which can block off impurities in original liquid so as to accomplish purpose of solid-liquid separation. But the clear liquid may pass through easily and still keep higher flowing speed.
